The Amangiri Resort and Spa

O The Amangiri Resort and Spa, localizado num terreno de 600 hectares no sul de Utah, é uma colaboração entre três arquitetos: Marwan Al-Sayed, Wendell Burnette e Rick Joy.
Os três arquitetos foram inspirados a trabalhar juntos num local inspirador, para criar uma solução ousada mas responsavel que celebrasse a magia e o mistério das falésias majestosas sul de Utah e formações rochosas.

The Amangiri Resort and Spa, located on a 600+ acre site in southern Utah, is a collaboration between three architects: Marwan Al-Sayed, Wendell Burnette and Rick Joy.
The three architects were inspired to work together on the awe-inspiring site, to create a bold yet responsive settlement that both honors and celebrates the magic and mystery of southern Utah’s majestic cliffs and rock formations.

Amangiri está localizado em 243 hectares (600 acres) em Canyon Point, Southern Utah, perto da fronteira com o Arizona. O resort está situado num vale protegido com vistas deslumbrantes sobre as rochas estratificadas e para o colorido Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument. O resort fica a 25 minutos de carro da cidade mais próxima Page, Arizona, e uma viagem de 15 minutos até as margens do Lago Powell. Arquitetonicamente, o resort foi projetado para se misturar com a paisagem com tons naturais, materiais e texturas  são uma característica do projeto. As estruturas são de acordo e em proporção com a escala da paisagem natural, ainda assim proporcionando um ambiente íntimo para ver e apreciar a paisagem.

Amangiri is located on 243 hectares (600 acres) in Canyon Point, Southern Utah, close to the border with Arizona. The resort is tucked into a protected valley with sweeping views over colourful, stratified rock towards the Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument. The resort is a 25-minute drive from the nearest town of Page, Arizona and a 15-minute drive to the shores of Lake Powell. Architecturally, the resort has been designed to blend into the landscape with natural hues, materials and textures a feature of the design. The structures are commanding and in proportion with the scale of the natural surroundings, yet provide an intimate setting from which to view and appreciate the landscape.

A chegada ao resort é através de uma estrada sinuosa que desce para o vale e leva ao Pavilhão central. Construído em torno da piscina principal, o Pavilhão abraça uma escarpa de pedra dramática. Dentro do Pavilhão é a sala de estar, Galeria, Biblioteca, Sala de Jantar, Sala de jantar privativa e adega. Duas alas do Pavilhão levam para o deserto: 17 suites estão localizadas dentro da Ala Norte e mais 17 suites, juntamente com o Aman Spa está localizado dentro da Ala Sul. As vistas para fora do resort são sobre o vale, cercado por penhascos elevados.

Arrival to the resort is via a winding road that descends into the valley and leads to the central Pavilion. Built around the main swimming pool, the Pavilion embraces a dramatic stone escarpment. Within the Pavilion is the Living Room, Gallery, Library, Dining Room, Private Dining Room and Cellar. Two accommodation wings lead from the Pavilion into the desert: 17 suites are located within the North Wing and another 17 suites together with the Aman Spa are located within the South Wing. Outward views from the resort look over the untouched valley surrounded by lofty bluffs.

Amangiri oferece 34 suítes no total: 13 Suites Desert View, 14 suites Mesa View, 1 Terraço Suite, 2 Suítes Piscina, 2 Suítes Terraço Piscina, a Suite Girijaala e a Suite Amangiri.

A entrada para cada suíte é através de um pátio privado, que apresenta uma tela de madeira de abeto Douglas Fir e inclui uma mesa de jantar, duas cadeiras e uma forma de luz esculpida. Uma parede de vidro com uma porta central abre-se para um quarto e sala de estar combinado que inclui uma secretária e uma cama king-size. Além da cama, existe uma área de estar, que dispõe de um sofá baixo, uma mesa de café, cadeiras de leitura e uma mesa lateral. Um armário de madeira separa o quarto e sala de estar do quarto de vestir, e abriga uma televisão e leitor de CD / DVD combinado.
Portas de vidro em concertina,  abriem a partir da área de estar para uma sala espaçosa no deserto que emoldura a vista da paisagem natural mais além. O salão contém um plinto com colchões de descanso e uma lareira central. O adjacente céu iluminado camarim estende-se a todo o comprimento da suíte e possui um guarda-roupa extenso, com um cofre e uma espaçosa area de vestir com vaidades gêmeas em cima de um pedestal de pedra. No final do quarto de vestir é um lavabo separado e para o outro, uma espaçosa casa de banho revestidas com azulejos verde prudente. A casa de banho tem 2 chuveiros de solteiro e uma banheira de imersão confortável com vistas panorâmicas sobre a paisagem.

Entry to each suite is via a private courtyard that features a Douglas Fir timber screen and includes a dining table, two chairs and a sculptured light form. A glass wall with a central door opens to a combined bedroom and living area which includes a writing desk and a king-sized bed. Beyond the bed is a sitting area which features a low-set sofa, a coffee table, reading chairs and a side table. A soaring timber cabinet separates the bedroom and living area from the dressing room, and houses a television and combined CD/DVD player. Concertina glass doors open from the sitting area to a spacious desert lounge that frames the view of the natural landscape beyond. The lounge contains a plinth with resting mattresses and a central fireplace. The adjacent sky-lit dressing room extends the full length of the suite and features an extensive wardrobe with a personal safe and spacious dressing area with twin vanities atop a stone plinth. To one end of the dressing room is a separate toilet room and to the other, a spacious bathroom lined with sage green tiles. The bathroom features twin rain showers and a comfortable soaking tub with uninterrupted views of the landscape.

Acabamentos de design incluem pisos de pedra branca e paredes de betão que ecoam a pedra natural da envolvente paisagem. O mobiliário apresenta couro cru, madeiras naturais e acessórios em aço enegrecido, enquanto almofadas cor de luz e mantas macias adicionam o calor.

Design finishes include white stone floors and concrete walls that echo the natural stone of the surrounding land- scape. The furniture features rawhide, natural timbers and fittings in blackened steel, while light-coloured cushions and soft throws add warmth.
